Mayor, council candidates disclose partnerships, financial documents before election

The mayoral and McKinney City Council at-large and District 1 candidates on the May 9 ballot are the second round of candidates who have had to fill out the required personal financial statements prior to the election.

Listed below is information listed on each candidates' personal financial statements, which are available per a public information request at the city of McKinney:: (candidates' names are listed in alphabetical order by last name)

Mayoral candidates -

George C. Fuller, Jr. - is listed as employed as a general contractor and owner of George C. Fuller Contracting, Inc. and a singer for The Maylee Thomas Band, per his personal financial statement. He also listed his business entity listed as Natural Micro Systems. He also listed having $500 to $4,999 in income from interest, dividends, royalties and rents at Independent Bank of McKinney at 6751 Virginia Parkway. He also included his real property as 2400 block of Provine Road, McKinney, 46 acres in Collin County; 6841 Virginia Parkway, Building 1 and 2 in McKinney, and having an interest in Blackard General Partners III, Inc., Samsons Kanoba, LLP, which is a restaurant in Adriatica in McKinney. George C Fuller Contracting, Inc. is listed, per the statement, of having the following liabilities at 10618 Tobias Lane in Frisco, 6991 Mediterranean in McKinney, and lot nine and block A.

Brian S. Loughmiller - is employed as an attorney in Loughmiller Higgins PC, which is in McKinney. Loughmiller is listed as acquiring the following bonds, notes and other commercial papers: $10,000 to $24,999 in Alamo HTS Tax Free Municipal Bond FBO for his daughter as a net gain; Series EE Treasury Bonds FBO children bond with $10,000 to $24,999 as a net gain; $1,000 to $4,999 in net loss in American Funds 529B accounts for dependent children; $10,000 or more as a net loss in American Funds Simple IRA AXA Financial Rollover IRA; and $10,000 or more in net gain in Equitable Insurance Variable Life Annuity. Loughmiller is also listed as having $500 to $4,999 in interest, dividends, royalties, and rents from AXA Financial Advisors; having $10,000 to $24,999 per month in a lease agreement for his law practice office at First United Bank in Craig Ranch and has $25,000 interest in real property in the 6300 block of Wildwood Drive in McKinney; and has $25,000 or more in office equipment, receivables and operating accounts for Loughmiller Higgins P.C. He also serves as a member on the Texas Family Law Foundation, board member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, member of the Texas Bar Foundation, and member of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, according to his presonal financial statement.

At-large council candidates -

David Brooks - Brooks is listed as Chairman and CEO of the Independent Bank Group based in McKinney, Chairman and CEO of Independent Bank Group Central Texas in Waco and Chairman of N.L. Holdings in Coralville, Iowa. His personal financial statement lists Brooks owning the following stock: $10,000 or more in Independent Bank Group; 410,000 or more in Independent Bank Group of Central Texas, and $10,000 or more in N.L. Holdings and acquired $5,000 in Texas Rangers Seat Bonds. Brooks has also acquired the following mutual funds: 100 to 499 shares in American Funds - Growth Fund of America; 100 to 499 shares in American Funds - WAMU investors Class A; 1,000 to 4,999 shares in MFS Research Bond Fund; 1,000 to 4,999 in Davies N.Y. Venture Fund; 5,000 to 9,999 shares in Thornburg Core Growth Fund; 1,000 to 4,999 shares in MFS Value Fund; 1,000 to 4,999 shares in MFS Global Equity Fund; 5,000 to 9,999 shares in Allianz CCM Capital Appreciation Fund; 1,000 to 4,999 shares in Hartford Capital Appreciation Fund; and 5,000 to 9,999 shares in Oppenheimer Main Street Opp. Fund.

Brooks' perfonal financial statement shows that Brooks derives income of $25,00 or more from Independent Bank Group in McKinney, $25,000 or more from the Independent Bank Group of Central Texas and $500 to 4,999 or more from the Bank of N. Y. in East Syracuse, NY. Brooks is also listed as having $500 to $4,999 in interest, dividends, royalties, and rents from Independent Bank in McKinney, $500 to $4,999 at Independent Bank in Waco and $500 to $4,999 in First Bank Farmersville. Brooks' statement also includes $25,000 of more in personal notes and lease agreements with Texas Independent Bank, $25,000 or more in personal notes and lease agreements in First Bank Farmersville, $25,000 or more in personal notes and lease agreements in Inwood National Bank, $25,000 or more in personal notes and lease agreements in Washington Mutual, $25,000 or more in personal notes and agreements in National City, $25,0000 or more in Countrywide, $25,000 or more in Flagstar Bank, and $25,000 or more in Northstar Bank.

Brooks is also listed per his personal financial statement, as owning 537 Sea Side Lane as a residence that is being built on a lot in the Adriatica subdivision and listed as owning another residence at 316 Mozart Way in McKinney. However, according to the Collin Central Appraisal District . Brooks is also listed as having interests in real propriety at 2110 Bear Creek Crossing in McGregor, near Waco and lot 16E in Adriatica, and having an interest in Paloduro Investments, LLC in McKinney as an interest in business entity. Brooks has $25,000 or more in assets and liabilities in Paloduro Investments, LLC. Brooks is also listed as being the chairman of N.L. Holdings and a board of trustee in the Houston Baptist University.

Gilda Garza - is currently the District 1 council member is listed as owning a home in the 1200 block of Garcia Street, works at Horizon Youth Services, or the North Texas Job Corps as a records clerk, according to her financial statement.

Curtis Rath - is listed as being employed in sales and marketing at J. Rettenmaier USA, LP as the director of business development and has less than 100 shares in Proctor & Gamble; and $5,000 to $9,999 in personal notes and lease agreement at Chase Bank, $25,000 or more in personal notes and lease agreements in Unity One. Rath's financial statement also includes a residence in the 2400 block of Cayenne and the 1800 block of Sheffield Drive in Kalamazoo, Mich.

District 1 council candidates -

Don Day - is listed as working in real estate, per his financial statement and owning less than 100 shares in DFA, LTD and less than 100 shares in DJD and LCO, LLC for his stock information on his personal financial statement. Day is also listed as having $25,000 in interest, dividends, royalties, and rents in DFA, LTD . and $10,000 in interest, dividends, royalties, and rents from social security, and $25,000 or more in interests in real property in the 3400 block of Tidewater Drive in Spring Hill,

Day is listed as being a board member and chair of the McKinney Housing Opportunity Corp., general partner of DFA, LTD, board chairman and president of DFA Hotel, LLC, board chairman and president of DJD & LCD, LLC, and board chairman and president of DFA, WHC, according to his personal financial statement.

Maurice Malvern - works for L-3 Communications and the North Texas Job Corps and owns less than 100 shares in L-3 Communications stock, according to his financial statement. Malvern is also listed as having less than $5,000 in United States Savings Bonds and lives in the 400 block of Watt Street, according to his financial statement.

Alonzo Tutson - is listed as working for McKinney ISD as an educator and works in sales for Silver Eagle Distribution, according to his financial statement. He is also listed as having an interest in real property located in the 9500 block of Everton in San Antonio and lives in the 1000 block of Murray Street, according to his personal financial statement.

Randall Wilder - is listed as owning and operating Towne North Electronics in McKinney, where he also works as a computer technician. Wilder is also listed as owning the following stock: less than 100 shares in SLV I Shares Silver Trust; less than 100 shares in 2150 21.5 Oil Fund; 100 to 499 shares in Canadian Solar Inc.; 100 to 499 shares in Kinross Gold Corp.; 100 to 499 shares in Akeena Solar, Inc.; less than 100 shares in Posco; $10,000 to $24,999 shares in Lamperd Less Lethal; and less than 100 shares in Aluminum Corp. of China, LTD. He is also listed as having $25,000 in real interest in 1601 N. Waddill St., Ste. 103A in McKinney, where his office is located and lives in the 1000 block of Inwood Drive.
