Interviews for McKinney boards and commissions begin July 15

People who are interested in volunteering their time to serve the community will get the chance to vie for positions on city boards and commissions during public interviews beginning July 15.
The boards and commissions interviews will be conducted by two City Council members on two days a week beginning July 15 until July 29 at City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee St.
The interviews for the Main Street Board of Directors will begin at 5:30 p.m. July 15 in the McKinney City Council chambers at City Hall; the Community Grants Board interviews will be held at 5:30 p.m. July 15 in the second floor conference room at City Hall; the Building and Standards Commission interviews will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room; and the interviews for the four vacant seats on the McKinney Economic Development Corporation will be held at 6:30 p.m. July 15 in the council chambers. MEDC board member Laurie Clegg and Scott Lewis are both up for renewal to the board, and the City Council recently elected to create two new positions to the MEDC board.
Clegg and Lewis, along with former District 3 Council member Bill Vitz, McKinney Community
and Development Corp. board members Carrie Alfieri, Joe Maxey and David Melton, Kevin Griffin, an employee of Independent Bank in McKinney, Chamber board member John Rattan, and current Chamber Chairman Keith Clifton are some of about 20 people who interviewed for the MEDC.
Interviews for the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau
Board of Directors will be held at 5:30 p.m. on July 23 in the council chambers; the McKinney Library Board interviews will be held at 5:30 p.m. on July 23 at city hall; the Planning and Zoning Commission interviews will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers; and the McKinney Airport Development Corp. board interviews will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 23.
Interviews for the McKinney Arts Commission will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers on July 27 and interviews for the Boards of Adjustments will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room on July 27.
The Historic Preservation Board interview will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers on July 29. The McKinney Armed Services Board interviews will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers on July 30.
