The bodies of David Baxter Edmondson and his grandson Noah Peel, both of McKinney, were found floating in the southwest section of Lake Lavon on Sat., Jan. 3 after the two visited the lake earlier that morning.

Noah died at age 9 and Edmondson died at age 59-year. Their bodies were reported floating in the lake at approximately 1 p.m., said Collin County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Lt. John Norton.

The Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 1 p.m. from a fisherman regarding a child’s body floating in Lake Lavon near Farm-to-Market Road 286 and County Road 310, near the Branch area of Collin County, which is a neighborhood east and southeast of Lowry Crossing and McKinney and south of Princeton.

Responding deputies recovered the body of a 9-year-old male child wearing a life jacket. At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 the body of a 59-year-old male was found in the same area, also wearing a life jacket.  Both bodies were transported to the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office. Sheriff's Office officials believe the victims went to the lake in the early morning hours of Jan. 3.

The Branch Volunteer Fire Department and officials with the Texas Parks and Wildlife also recovered a 15-foot canoe near the area where the deceased boy and man were found, and they believe it belongs to Edmondson and Peel, officials said.
