Goodhues Wood Fired Grill, the upscale restaurant in downtown McKinney that has been known for its wine list and fine dining for more than a decade at 204 W. Virginia St, has officially closed its doors according to city officials and Main Street Board of Directors members.
Goodhues officially closed its doors on May 18 without any explanation from the owner, and the building is available for lease, said Sharla Bush, a Main Street Board member and wife of downtown developer George Bush, who owns the building where Goodhues is currently located.
"We're sorry to see Goodhues close. It was McKinney's first upscale restaurant and we all loved going there on New Year's Eve, birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays," Sharla Bush said.
Bob Jennings of McKinney owns Goodhues, but could not be reached for comment at the restaurant on May 18 about the closure. A note was posted on the front door of Goodhues from Bob and Diane Jennings that read, "To our valued customers and friends: Effectively Monday May 18th we will be closing the restaurant. We would like to thank all of you for your support and patronage over the last 11 years." A photo of the note is pictured above.
Jennings also owns Hogg's Barbecue on Custer Road in McKinney but he could also not be reached on the afternoon of May 18.
George Bush could also not be reached via his cell phone before 5 p.m. for comment. The Goodhues staff member also did not want to comment on the closing.
