Families of local service men and women honored by city leaders
 Local family members of service men and women who are currently serving in the United States Armed Services overseas were given Blue Star Flags to hang in their windows of their homes to honor their family members by members of the McKinney City Council on June 2.
Pictured in the photo on the left are Dennis and Pamela Dotson who accepted a Blue Star Flag from Council member for District 4 Ray Ricchi on behalf of the Dotsons' sons Travis Hitt and Casey Hitt. The Hitts are the city's first family to receive two Blue Star Flags to honor two family members currently serving in the US Armed Services overseas. Travis Hitt and Casey Hitt are serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Pictured in the below left photo, from left is Council member for District 3 Travis Ussery and residents Donna and Charles Hutson accepting a Blue Star Flag on behalf of the Hutson's son, Wesley MacDonnal Hutson from Ussery at the June 2 council meeting.
Resident Barbara Ryer, pictured in the photo below, and her two children accept a Blue Star Flag from Council member for District 2 Geralyn Kever, pictured kneeling and talking to Ryer's children, to honor her husband, Thomas Ryer, who is currently serving overseas in the US Armed Services.
