Council to vote city boards and commissions appointments on Aug. 17

McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau and Planning and Zoning Commission hopefuls interview for positions

The McKinney City Council will vote on various appointments to the city boards and commissions once again in an open session at 5:30 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 17 in the council chambers at City Hall.

The new board appoinments will become effective Oct. 1, which is the first day of the 2009-2010 fiscal year.

The following people were interviewed by Mayor Brian Loughmiller and District 4 Council member Ray Ricchi on July 23 to be on the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors: current MCVB board member Ian Dockrill who manages Boston's Gourmet Pizza and Sports Bar in McKinney; John Rattan, who owns The Body Shop, and is a member of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors; George Lodge who told Loughmiller and Ricchi that he has a lengthy history in the national publishing industry; Erica Tate, daughter of Planning and Zoning Commission member Darrell Tate, and who grew up in McKinney; Tray Gardner who works for Stonebridge Realty; McKinney Rotary Club member Daniel Hall.

The following people also applied to the MCVB Board of Directors but did not attend the July 23 interview with the council memebers: Molly Brewer, former Main Street board member Linda McNeff, Adelinda Bryant, Main Street board member and owner of the Spoons restaurant Karen Klassen, Darrell Chiavetta, former Board of Adjustment board member David Kochalka, who is a civil engineer who works for Kimley-Horn and Associates in Frisco, and who has worked on the Bridge Street Town Centre plans, Jane Mack, and Kristin Whitaker.

There are three positions that are up for re-appointment for the new fiscal year. They include

District 3 Council member Travis Usserry and District 2 Council member Geralyn Kever interviewed applicants for the Planning and Zoning Commission on July 23.

Some of the people who applied and attended the interviews were current P & Z Chairman Robbie Clark, whose term is up for re-appointment; current P & Z board member Darrell Tate, whose term is also up for re-appointment; Mike Livezey, the General Manager of Cutter Aviation, which is housed at the Collin County Regional Airport; 2009 District 1 Council member candidate and former Building and Standards Commission board member Randall Wilder; 2009 District 1 Council member candidate Alonzo James Tutson; Shannon Cain, who has previously served on the McKinney Building and Standards Commission, and who is the son of current Main Street board member Amoret Cain; and long-time McKinney resident Kent Paluga who works for the Department of Public Safety.
