Plans to build an amphitheater and a splash pad at the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex, just north of Valley Creek Trail and west of US 75 will go on as scheduled as the McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission approved a site plan for improvements to the complex.

The amphitheater will be able to hold about 40 people and will include stone seating, and it will be located at the northwest section of the complex. A splash pad, which includes arch like structures that emit water that is not recirculated for children to run through. A large playground will also be built near the splash pad and amphitheater. A pavilion will be built near the southern section of the complex, said Parks Development Planner Jenny Baker. All commissioners voted on the issue except Commissioner Jack Radke, who recused himself from voting on the issue.
