Texas Trash-Off, Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean Up and Arbor Day celebration set for Sat., May 16
The city of McKinney is combining events in May for a cleaner, greener city. Texas Trash-off, Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean-up and Arbor Day will coincide on Sat., May 16.
The city's annual Arbor Day and Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean Up events were rescheduled for May 16 after they were cancelled on April 18 due to rainy weather
“It’s excellent to be able to combine these three events in McKinney. The new Texas Trash-Off is a smart addition to the long-standing Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean-up and Arbor Day celebrations. We are celebrating the community getting together to make a cleaner McKinney,” said Deputy City Manager Rick Chaffin .
Volunteer teams can sign up to participate in the Texas Trash-Off on May 16 from 8 a.m. to noon. Team members will pick up trash at assigned locations across McKinney to compete for a grand prize, and will also receive t-shirts and lunch. Teams check in at Old Settlers Park , 1201 E. The rescheduled Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean-Up Day and Arbor Day were postponed from last month due to rain are also happening on May 16. The clean-up portion of the event will be from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Bring debris and trash to the Dumpsters at Amscott Street, or A.M Scott Street,. and McMakin St. behind the historic Cotton Mill. Paint, liquids and hazardous wastes will not be accepted.
Teams participating in the Texas Trash-Off and Rebuilding Neighborhoods Clean Up events will join in with the 7th annual Arbor Day celebration at noon along with a volunteer appreciation lunch, also at Old Settlers Park . The grand prize poster winner of the Arbor Day poster contest will be recognized.
