McKinneyUpdate.com is a daily online news source that will cover McKinney, including city, school and county news, and business stories, features on individuals, organizations and events. The site will also have stories about politics and elections, as it’s important to let folks know how their elected officials are voting on issues and how they’re spending tax payers’ money. Updates will be included about the Bridge Street Town Centre, where the Westin Hotel is being built; the McKinney Dr Pepper StarCenter; the Medical Center of McKinney; the Methodist McKinney Hospital; Baylor McKinney Hospital; and the Craig Ranch hospital; developments in Craig Ranch, Stonebridge, Tucker Hill; and in the city's older, historic areas; and the Collin County Regional Airport. McKinneyUpdate.com will also try its best to not mix opinions from the reporter in news stories. This will not be a blog but will hopefully work as an online news source. The site will not have a forum or the ability for people to anonymously post comments about people in stories. If you want to share your opinion on something, by all means please do. I only ask that you include your full name and mailing address. Then your opinion can be published as an e-mail to the editor. If you want to submit an e-mail to the editor, please include your full name and a mailing address. Please send them to editor@mckinneyupdate.com. This site will also not endorse local or national political candidates as that’s for you, the reader to decide on who to vote for. McKinneyUpate.com is also selling online advertisements for competitive rates for local and area businesses, non-profit organizations, agencies, and individuals to help get the word out about your business, event, trade, or organization. I will be writing the majority of the stories, for now. I will draw on my more than eight years experience reporting for local and regional newspapers that serve McKinney, Collin County, Anna, Melissa, Rockwall County, Greenville, Grayson County, and Lewisville, such as the former Lewisville News that was owned by the BELO Corporation. I have a mass communications degree from Texas Woman’s University, I grew up in McKinney, attended McKinney ISD schools, am a McKinney High School graduate, and a third generation Collin County resident. I’ve seen this city grow from 23,000 residents to the current 125,000 population and there are many truly great stories to tell about people that live and work here. McKinney has a rich, eclectic history that is found can be found in any Victorian or historic home east of US 75 or buildings along the square, to the city's many civic leaders, to the new buildings constantly being constructed both east and west of US 75. McKinney is truly filled with endless school, city, and county news stories to tell. Web master is McKinney based graphic designer David Drew, with assistance from Casey Hart |
